Guess How Much I Love You
Guess How Much I Love You - Sam McBratney, Anita Jeram

A sweet book where a little bunny named Little Nut Brown Hare tries to convince his family member, Big Nut Brown Hare, just how much he loves them. This book is first on my list of books that I want to read. This book is great to be used during Valentines day, or just when you want your students to be reminded just how much you love them!

How I would use this book in my classroom:

I would love to read this book as apart of my valentines day lesson!

The Rainbow Fish
The Rainbow Fish - Marcus Pfister, J. Alison James

The Rainbow Fish is a childhood classic that teaches children the importance of sharing. In this story we are introduced to Rainbow Fish, the most beautiful fish in the sea. He is selfish with his scales and does not want to share them, which quickly causes him to be friendless. Rainbow Fish seeks the advice from a star fish, who encourages him to share his beautiful scales. Rainbow Fish takes the star fish advice and shares his scales until they are all gone. Although Rainbow Fish no longer has his beautiful scales, he finds himself surrounded with beautiful friends.

How I would use this book in my classroom:

I would read this book in my class with the hopes that my students learn the importance of sharing. I would read it during whole group and even allow my students to create their own rainbow fish during a mental break moment.

The True Story Of The 3 Little Pigs!
The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs - Jon Scieszka, Lane Smith

There is always two parts to every story, and in this book we get to listen to the Big Bad Wolfs side of the original story, Three Little Pigs. The Wolf swears he never huffed and puffed down the pigs houses, but instead he was just having a sick day and couldn't help sneezing. It wasn't his fault the pigs made their house out of unreliable materials! All the poor Wolf wanted was a cup of sugar, and now he is being framed with murder! Of course he ate the pigs after their houses fell, he couldn't let a good "ham dinner" go to waste, could he?

How I would use this book in my future classroom:

I would use this book in my future classroom during a lesson on comparing and contrasting. I think that comparing/contrasting this book to the original three little pigs story would be a fun way to get the assignment done!

Rocking in My School Shoes
Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes - Eric Litwin, James Dean

What elementary age student doesn't love Pete the Cat stories? I have heard of them numerous times but never read one until recently. Pete the Cat is a character in a series of children's books. In this particular story he is showing off his cool new red school shoes and all the places he travels in them throughout the school day. There is an interactive song that comes along with the book, or you can sing it to your child/students yourself!

How I would use this book in my classroom:

I would love to read this book on the first day of school to help my students get over any first day "jitters" that they might have.

Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman, Caroline Binch

I believe this book is a must read to your students! It was introduced to me by my professor and if I can feel moved by this book, I know a child will be moved even further!  Amazing Grace is a sweet book on the importance of believing in yourself. In this story we follow a little girl named Grace who loves playing pretend. Grace's school is putting on the drama Peter Pan and Grace knows who she wants to be, Peter Pan himself ! A few of her classmates discourage her, telling her that she doesn't look the part. Will Grace listen to her classmates opinions, or will she show them that if she works hard enough she can accomplish anything?

How I would use this book in my classroom:

I would read this to my students in the hope that they take a lesson on believing in yourself from it.

Where the Wild Things Are
Where The Wild Things Are - Maurice Sendak

I grew up absolutely loving the book Where the Wild Things Are. It is a amazing book about a boy named Max who embarks on an adventure to a new world full of wild things! He soon finds himself crowned the ruler of all the wild things and loves to give his best roar to his adoring crowd. All is going well until his hungry stomach quickly encourages him to venture back to his moms kitchen. This story is a great lesson to children that they can be whatever they want to be, as long as they know they can always travel back home (or if not home then to their loving teacher).

How I would use this book in my classroom:

I would love to use this book in my classroom as a lesson on the importance of striving to be what you want to be, as well as just share my love of the book to my students.
